Meet Cullen Gray

WRITER / DIRECTOR / PRODUCER

A smiling man wearing a black cap and a striped t-shirt, holding a small orange pumpkin with a short stem, standing outdoors in front of a yellow house with white columns, trees, and a blue sky.

Cullen Gray is a fearless theatre director, producer, and immersive storyteller specializing in site-specific work that transforms unexpected spaces into theatrical worlds. Cullen founded Naut Human Productions, a Northern Virginia-based professional theatre company in 2024, where he serves as Executive Producer and Artistic Director.

His directing and producing credits with Naut Human include Dracula (2024), The Great Gatsby (2025), Frankenstein (2025), Stephen King’s Misery (2026), and Penny’s Dreadful Parlour (2026). Cullen began his professional theatre career in 2018 as an Apprentice with Serenbe Playhouse, where he first discovered his love for environmental storytelling.

Known for bold, high-concept, and often site-specific direction, Cullen approaches each production with an adventurous eye and a willingness to push beyond traditional theatrical boundaries.

Cullen earned a B.A. from James Madison University (2018) and an M.F.A. from the University of Georgia (2022).
